About Standard
The seat and backrest of the Standard chair by Jean Prouvé are accessible in different sorts of strong wood, and the chair’s striking metal edge comes in various colours.‎ This downplayed, notorious design is a popular exemplary by the French ‚constructeur’.‎ Materials: – Seat and backrest: oak (normal or dull completion) or walnut (dark pigmented finish).‎ – Base: twisted sheet steel and cylindrical steel, powder-covered completion (smooth).‎ Chairs take the most weight on their back legs, where they bear the heaviness of the client’s upper body.‎ The specialist and designer Jean Prouvé outlined this basic understanding in his particular design for the Standard chair: while steel tubing gets the job done for the front legs, since they bear a generally light burden, the back legs are made of voluminous empty segments that move the essential pressure to the floor.‎ Standard is presented with a seat and backrest in wood or as the model Standard SP in ASA plastic.‎ furthermore, there is the all-wood Chaise Tout Bois, whose design is basically the same as the Standard chair.‎ During World War II, Jean Prouvé reacted to the restricted stock of metal with a rendition made altogether out of facade and strong wood.‎
