The slim, exquisitely spread metal legs of the Compas Direction desk by Jean Prouvé bring to mind the pivoted arms of a compass – ‘le compas’ in French.‎ Their design depends on designing rules that epitomize the underlying methodology of the French designer and engineer.‎ Paired with the oiled solid wood table tops, they structure a luxuriously differentiating blend of materials in the home office.‎ Materials: – Table top: solid wood with oiled completion; regular oak, smoked oak or American walnut.‎ – Base: twisted sheet steel, powder-covered completion (smooth).‎ – Origin of wood: oak (Quercus robur) from Western Europe and/or Poland; American pecan (Juglans nigra) from the USA.‎
