About The Lightning Archives
Famous semantics meet Dadaist inferences in Studio Job’s tribute to the Tube, carrying a trying idyllic air to the notable Slamp show-stopper, first delivered in the mid nineties. The assortment of 7 luxurious lamps, are enlightened by a solid, surrealist personality brought into the world of imaginative articulation: Labyrinth, Love Peace Joy, Perished, Peace Skull, Faena Art, Bananas, L’Afrique. Luscious grinning lips, moving creature skeletons, pop-craftsmanship organic product, references to the Renaissance and offbeat fears, are all essential for the notable ordinary, apparently mixed up, yet totally unmistakable on account of a progression of visual depiction standards (balances, watermarks, and layering). Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel’s work is characterized by their careful scrupulousness, making each piece unique. Painted, adjusted profiles, coordinating or differentiating semi-spheric buttons in transcendent tones, and explicitly planned wire covers are a portion of the different subtleties used to finish their designs. Dense allegorical ideas, rendered faction references and two-dimensional structures take on profundity when imprinted on straightforward Cristalflex® superimposed on an Opalflex® layer, communicating the light uniformly. The outcome is unadulterated radicalism, and the Tubes are a finished show-stopper, washed in semantics, delivered from a bureau of interests consistent with Studio Job’s sweet style.
