Pioneers of modernity, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand have always worked with the aim of putting humankind at the centre of every single project.‎ In collaboration with the Fondation Le Corbusier and heirs of the co-authors, Cassina has updated the collection with an intervention on a manufacturing level, underlining once again how avantgarde this furniture really is.‎ Ecology for a new modernism The LC3 model is timeless icon that has made design history.‎ Without following fashions, they are evergreens that are handed down from generation to generation with the spirit of responsible consumption.‎ Thanks to the study carried out by Cassina LAB, a collaboration between the Cassina Research and Development Centre and Poli.‎design at the Milan Polytechnic, the two armchairs have been updated, respecting both the environment and the original project, to create a new ecological version: LC3 Fauteuil Grand Confort Durable.‎ Eco-friendly polyols, deriving from bio-renewable sources, have been integrated into the foam elements and a 100% recycled blown fibre, obtained from PET mainly recovered from the sea, has been introduced into the cushion and seat padding to make the armchair not only environmentally friendly but also even more comfortable.‎ This research is part of a more in-depth project that expresses the company’s desire to identify alternative materials to be adopted in the development of its products as well as to promote the general well-being of its users.‎ The tubular frame of the Fauteuil Grand Confort Durable model is in brushed nickel with a semi-matt finish, a material that is characterised for its more sustainable and environmentally friendly production process.‎ These new ecological options are applicable to all models of the LC2 and LC3 armchairs and sofas.‎ Like all products in the Cassina I Maestri Collection, each piece bears the logo and author’s signature as well as the progressive number that corresponds to their identity c
