Salone del Mobile, Milano 2023: The Newest Seating Options
On April 23rd, Milan’s prestigious Salone del Mobile—one of the world’s largest designer furniture exhibitions—came to a close. This global event brings together leading brands that showcase their finest creations, reaffirming their commitment to quality and innovation. Many of these brands proudly collaborate with VIZZZIO, which is why we’ve dedicated a series of articles to reviewing the most exciting new releases unveiled in Milan.

Adel, Calligaris
The "Adel" armchair collection from Calligaris, designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, is a harmonious blend of essentiality of form, elegant design, and meticulous attention to detail that seamlessly integrates with the refinement of sophisticated proportions. The armchair is available with or without armrests and in different variations of high or bucket backrests, completely covered in fabric and leather, or in special versions featuring Vienna straw and natural straw cord. The collection successfully reinterprets the past, creating a contemporary seating option that is perfect for any modern living space.
Porta Volta, Molteni&C
The "Porta Volta" armchair by Molteni&C is a wonderful piece designed in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron. The defining feature of the chair is the U-shaped curved solid wood back that creates an enveloping feel and extends further to form armrests. For added comfort, the armchair offers optional padding on the backrest that can be customized with a range of fabrics and leathers. The chair is available in two sizes, with the higher size perfect for dining at 71cm and the lower size at 66cm designed for the living room, pairing seamlessly with a sofa. What's interesting, the special edition of the "Porta Volta" armchair will be featured in the main reading room at The National Library of Israel in Jerusalem, where Molteni&C's sister brand, Unifor, is managing the remodeling.
Claire, Lema
Next, we want to introduce the "Claire" lounge chair from Lema, designed by the renowned Norm Architects. The chair boasts balanced volumes and proportions, with a high backrest and rounded shape that invites you to indulge in enveloping comfort. The metal frame is minimalist yet enhanced by solid wood armrests, offering a reassuring tactility that complements the generous upholstery. Norm Architects have successfully blended sophisticated details, proportions, and volumes to create a classic lounge chair perfect for modern people with sweet souls.
Guinea, Pedrali
Designed by CMP Design, "Guinea" is the perfect addition to outdoor spaces such as the seafront, poolside, or even on the deck of a ship, providing a comfortable and stylish way to enjoy beautiful landscapes and long, relaxed moments. The frame is made of durable aluminum, the armrests are made from teak which has become a tactile and visually striking detail in the overall design. The chair features a waterproof textilene seat and a soft, removable cushion. The backrest is customizable, it could be in various configurations, including a version that resembles traditional director's chairs. Its mechanical construction makes disassembling it for recycling or component replacement simple.
Lamorisse Wood, Pedrali
Another stylish seating option designed by CMP Design - "Lamorisse Wood", is a natural evolution of the "Lamorisse" armchair, forming this way a complete collection of seats that can be used in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Crafted with a stunning ash wood frame, "Lamorisse Wood" first of all is perfect for fine restaurants and elegant dining rooms. The oval-shaped legs blend seamlessly with the rounded steam-curved armrests, providing added strength and support. The ash wood frame is finished with water-based coatings composed mostly of plant-derived resins, ensuring Pedrali's commitment to environmental sustainability. The "Lamorisse Wood" armchair offers the same level of comfort as its aluminum counterpart and can be easily disassembled for recycling purposes or to replace its components.
Nari, Pedrali

The "Narì" armchair from Pedrali is an elegant and comfortable outdoor seating option that pays homage to the company's founder. Designed by Andrea Pedrali, this armchair combines traditional techniques with new industrial technologies to create a contemporary piece that echoes the elements of the first forged iron garden chairs from Pedrali’s 1960s collection. The solid steel structure of "Narì" is weather-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor use, while the woven extruded PVC with a nylon core wrapped around the armrests and backrest adds a touch of style and comfort. The seat and backrest feature a polyurethane foam cushion, making it comfortable to sit in for extended periods of time. The legs are characterized by a double steel tube that has a simple and linear shape. The woven element of the armchair tightens towards the lower part of the seat and widens towards the top, calling to mind the fan-shaped geometry inspired by the backrest of the "Serenella" armchair. The choice of the name "Narì" is a nod to a popular local tradition and the nickname by which Mario Pedrali’s family used to be identified.

Versatile, elegant, and curvy, the "Ella" armchair from the Pianca brand is suitable for both private and public spaces. It is designed by Pier Luigi Frighetto, a renowned innovator and visionary in the world of design. With its unique and fresh contemporary style, the "Fedra" armchair is another standout piece designed by Pier Luigi Frighetto. The legendary "Le Club" recliner by Poliform is still as comfortable as ever in its outdoor edition, which makes obtaining one the ideal objective. The fabric is created through the interweaving of flat polypropylene ropes, treated with a water-resistant liquid to withstand the elements. With a sophisticated and intricate technique employed for the upholstery, the execution quality is remarkable.
Amarantha, Porada
Designed by E. Gallina, the "Amarantha" armchair and pouf set features a solid canaletta walnut frame and frame in coupled Cuoietto leather. The cushion is made of polyester fiber and polyurethane inserts, and it has a detachable fabric cover. Porada's attention to detail and use of high-quality materials are evident in this design. The "Amarantha" armchair was introduced at the Salone del Mobile in Milan as a part of the brand-new Porada collection "Twenty-Three", that reflects brand's commitment to timeless elegance and contemporary style.
Calin, Porada
The "Calin" armchair is a contemporary piece designed by G. & O. Buratti from the same Porada's new collection. The chair features a swivel metal base and a back structure made of curved plywood with a Canaletto walnut finish and a visible edge. The seat and back are padded with synthetic fiber and come with a removable cover in the different fabrics of the collection. The armchair's style is quite intricate but at the same time could be considered classic, because there is a focus on excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail in its design. The whole essence of Porada's craftsmanship could be embodied in such wonderful piece of furniture as "Molly" armchair, designed by Meneghello Paolelli. "Jackout" features a powder-coated stainless steel frame and a specific seat shell. It is a breathable and water-repellent seat shell made from a fabric membrane and is interwoven by hand with the frame. The chair comes with removable seat cushions and an optional matching footstool, offering a unique seating experience while withstanding outdoor elements.
Jua, Rolf Benz
Rolf Benz "JUA" is the new outdoor version of the popular "Rolf Benz 600" chair, that was also presented at the Salone del Mobile Milano 2023. Hoffmann & Kahleyss designed it, and it comes in Anthracite or Umbra grey. The chair is flexible and waterproof, with an optional swivel function and foamed backrest and seat cushions specifically made for the outdoors. With a non-slip coating, the cushions maintain the ideal seating position. You can customize Rolf Benz's "JUA" by choosing any fabric from the Rolf Benz Outdoor cover collection, creating a contrast between the monochrome seat shell and the cushions with their 3D effects.
